Comcast is finally making its free linear streaming service Xumo available to users of Apple TV hardware for the first time.

The streamer became available to download on newer-generation Apple TV devices that are capable of accessing a specialized Apple App Store dedicated to its streaming television hardware.

Prior to this week, Xumo was limited to users of Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV hardware as well as Comcast customers with X1-powered set-top boxes. Apple TV users could stream video from Xumo using the Airplay feature on a separate Apple phone, tablet or computer.

With this week’s launch on Apple TV, Comcast says Xumo now reaches every popular streaming platform in the United States.

Last October, Comcast said Xumo had experienced a significant amount of growth since the cable and Internet company acquired it in early 2020. As of October, the free streaming service had more than 24 million monthly active users.

Xumo operates as a separate business within Comcast. The company’s other streaming service, Peacock, is more tightly integrated with Comcast’s cable television and broadband Internet offerings.
