Review: VidOn Quad Core XBMC Preinstalled with HD Audio Output 3D Smart Android TV Box- IPTV Reviews

If you want the best remote for an android TV and a beautiful, but still powerful box, check out the VidoOn. I did struggle with some of the software but once I installed a clean version of Kodi on the box everything worked smoothly.

Pros:

  • Best remote I have ever used with an Android TV box
  • Beautiful design with a metal case
  • Powerful quad-core processor
  • External hard drives are supported up to 3 TB
  • Inexpensive compared to other Kodi devices

Cons:

  • My Rii i8+ keyboard did not work with the VidOn (Note: the touchpad did, but not the keyboard or quick buttons)
  • No 4K support
  • VidOn preinstalled Kodi version is still XBMC Gotham

Some features are only available with a $14.99/year subscription:

  • HD Audio Pass-through
  • Access to VidOn XBMC Pro
  • Blu-ray Menu Navigation

The VidOn does lack 4K support, but if you don’t have a 4K TV why pay the extra cost for something you can’t use?

The Pro version of the VidOn is perfect for anyone who wants the HD Audio Pass-through or have a lot of Blu-ray ISO files laying around. So if having a digital copy of your Blu-rays is important to you the VidOn is the Android Box for you.

There is one big reason to get a VidOn box over many other Android/Kodi boxes; the VidOn box can work with a 3TB external hard drive, whereas other Kodi boxes I have tested top out at 2TB external hard drives. So, if you have a lot of content the extra 1TB of data could definitely be enough to make the VidOn the device for you.

In short, the Vidon has great hardware and an amazing remote. If you are looking for a cheap but powerful Android TV box you should check out the VidOn.
