AT&T is expanding its complementary access to its streaming service HBO Max with free access for some customers of its wireless prepaid phone service Cricket.

Starting Friday, Cricket customers who subscribe to the company’s $60 a month unlimited data plan will get free access to the cheaper, ad-supported version of HBO Max called “HBO Max with Ads.”

“We are always looking for ways to bring our customers the best value possible[, and we] know they are hungry for content and HBO Max offers the most cutting-edge and high-quality entertainment available,” Tony Mokry, an executive in charge of marketing initiatives at Cricket, said in a statement. “From cult classics to new HBO Max Originals, we know our customers will be smiling ear to ear when they dive in. We’re so excited to be able to bring this incredible service and library of content to our beloved customers.”

The initiative marks the first time AT&T has offered free access to HBO Max outside its AT&T and former DirecTV brands, and the first time the cheaper, ad-supported version of HBO Max has been included in a free offering since it launched two months ago.

Cricket customers with the $60 a month unlimited data plan can start accessing HBO Max with Ads for free by downloading the HBO Max app and signing in with their Cricket credentials. Customers on other Cricket plans can take advantage of the offer by upgrading their plans to the $60 a month unlimited data tier.
