Two years after introducing the Chromecast 4K with Google TV, the company now has a new device in the market called Chromecast HD. Just like the one that came before it, the new Chromecast HD also comes with Google TV, which is essentially a version of Android TV that’s made specifically for Chromecast. The Google TV experience is going to remain largely the same, as the only thing that’s changed with the new device is just the output, really.

Google Chromecast HD with Google TV, as you can see from the image, is very similar to the Chromecast 4K that’s already on the market. The body of the Chromecast HD itself has the same oval design that tucks itself behind the TV. This one also has a short HDMI cable that allows it to hang itself off the back of the TV. It also has a USB Type-C port for power, similar to the Chromecast 4K device. Another interesting thing to note about the Chromecast HD is that it comes with a remote. The remote is also identical, meaning you’re looking at the same size, button layout, and more.

One of the biggest differences between the Chromecast HD and Chromecast 4K is output resolution. The newer device, as the name implies, supports basic HD video. You will have to download an additional app such as Sling TV to watch live TV using this particular streaming box. This is a little bit of a letdown considering the fact that TiVo Stream 4K comes with pre-installed apps for this. Installing new applications on the Mi Box S, thankfully, isn’t a hassle at all, so that’s a relief.
